Bump-Friendly Basics: Wear these Before, During and After Pregnancy

When I got pregnant, I knew I wanted to find fashionable pieces without compromising my quality standards or budget. After all, I have a baby coming, and saving money is a top priority.

That’s where my philosophy for shopping and styling my body began. It’s an approach to fashion I’ve invested in only within the last couple of years. I splurge more on staples like jackets, bottoms, and shoes and save on layers like basic t-shirts, overshirts, and accessories like hats and scarves.

Luckily, after much searching, I’ve found my source for some of the best basics, bottoms, and everything else, and I am glad to be sharing them with you. And, whether you’re planning for pregnancy, are already pregnant, or have just delivered, these pieces are soft, comfortable, and, for some, worth the splurge because they provide style AND comfort. Both of which are key for me.

lululemon Align™ High-Rise Mini-Flared Pant Extra Short

These pants are a must-have if you are looking for the perfect flare legging, especially if you are short or petite. I’m 5’3,” and the extra short length hits me at the bottom of my ankle bone. So if you’re a little bit shorter, say anywhere between 5′ and 5′ 2″, these will also fit you great. In addition to the length fitting just right, I love how these leggings are the ideal combination of stretchy and soft. I’ve worn these leggings from my first trimester into my second (20 weeks), and they still fit my legs and hug my belly just enough to provide support but not squeeze me.

Short Sleeve Non-Shirred Maternity T-Shirt – Isabel Maternity by Ingrid & Isabel™

These are my favorite short-sleeved basic t-shirts. For $13, the quality is impeccable. They are thick and form-fitting, and I love their longer length for layering with leggings. These t-shirts come in four wardrobe-ready colors: navy, gray, black, and white. I own white, gray, and black shirts and will likely buy a second shirt in each color because of how versatile they are.

MakeMeChic Women’s Maternity T-Shirt Long Sleeve Split Side Pregnancy Tee

In the cold winter months, I seek out overshirts and light layers. When I found The MakeMeChic maternity shirt, I knew it was a shirt I’d use and style for various occasions. I’ve worn this over shirt to yoga and to run errands or lounge around the house. It is so soft and so comfortable. Also, the soft and light-weight fabric makes it perfect for wearing in different temperatures. For warmer days, I wear a tank top or one of the Ingrid and Isabel short-sleeve t-shirts underneath the shirt, and for cooler days, I will wear a long-sleeve t-shirt.
