The Fall Fashion Pieces You’ll Love on a Budget

As I write this post, it’s only September, but it doesn’t feel too soon to start thinking about fall fashion. It is my favorite time of the year. Not because it’s the time of the year that orbits around the holidays and some of the best deals, but for the fashion.

I love the reason to throw on some of my favorite denim, a nice long-sleeve tee, a cozy nit cardigan, and chic caramel-toned suede booties. And, if it’s cool enough, I love to throw on a fun, printed scarf.

The start of fall is just a couple of short weeks away, so I didn’t want to pull too much from my fall shopping list, but I wanted to share some basic staples to get you started.

Shacket

A shacket, as the name describes it, is a part shirt and part jacket. I love a shacket for how easy it is to transition it from fall to winter or cool to cold weather.

I chose the two shackets in my guide for their neutral color and because the Old Navy Plaid Soft-Brush Utility Shackets have petite sizes. At five foot three inches tall, I look for jackets and sweaters tailored to my small frame. If I don’t, I risk looking like I’m wearing a duster jacket or drowning in fabric.

Another shacket that I’ve recently bought and loved is the Madewell Flannel Kentwood Oversized Shirt-Jacket in Windowpane. It’s a beautiful neutral beige color with some white striping. The neutral color makes for a versatile style that will compliment a relaxed weekend look or a more classic office look.

These shackets don’t have liners, so they have more flexibility and versatility. So, if you have more mildly cool temperatures or warm, you can easily layer the shackets. And, a shacket with no liner means you have more ease in moving around in them. And offers more opportunities to layer them, if needed.

Scoop-Neck Tee + Bodysuit

Fall calls for easy layering pieces. That includes a scoop-neck tee and bodysuit, or one bodysuit that doubles as both. Every wardrobe needs a form of a bodycon tee, or bodysuit makes it easy to layer it underneath a shacket–like the one above.

Whichever it is, the versatility available in a form-fitted black or white tee or bodysuit is endless. That’s why I included it in this guide, and I think you’ll find yourself incorporating your bodysuit into multiple styles.

The Bodysuit I recommend is Everlane’s, The Short-Sleeve Crew Neck Bodysuit, and the Pima Micro-Rib ScBodysuit Tee. Both are perfect options for layering and are wardrobe staples all year round.

Chic Rain Boots

I’ll be honest, living in Southern California, I recognize that rain boots aren’t necessary for every wardrobe. But, after seeing the Dolce Vita Stormy Rainboots, I’m almost convinced I need them because we get lucky enough to get some rain when the time comes.

What I love about the Dolce Vita rainboots is that they don’t look like your traditional rainboot, so you can wear them all day on a cold and rainy day at the office or out to dinner with friends. They also come in three beautiful and chic colors, Ivory, Onyx, and Rose, all in gorgeous patent leather. I am torn between the ivory and the rose, but all three will fit in any wardrobe for a classy and chic winter style.

A Soft Fragrance

To top it off, any wardrobe–no matter the season–needs a beautiful fragrance. For me, that includes one that is soft on the nose, but full of body. The scents I gravitate towards are a combination of floral, musky, and warm.

For me an outfit isn’t complete without the spritz of my favorite scent. I keep my scents on my nightstand. That is where I put on my watch and most of my jewelry, so naturally, it makes sense for me to keep my perfumes there. Because I keep my perfume and jewelry on my nightstand I light to maintain a beautiful aesthetic. I like to have nice bottles of perfume to look at before I got to bed and when I wake up.

The Gucci Flora is one of those scents that is beautiful and soft, and can truly be worn all year long. But, I love it for the fall because while we may be getting all the more traditionally stronger and more earthy fall scents in the realm of clove, nutmeg and cinnamon, I love to balance it out with something a little bit softer.

But, the fragrance is truly individual and reminiscent of unique and special memories and experiences for everyone. So, find the one that works for you.

If you have one that sits close to your heart, please, leave it in the comments and share what about it brings you warmth and comfort, or simply–joy!
